BATTLES
Who's actually winning the QB2 job battles around the NFL right now, by reps and per-snap grades?
THE SEASON RIGHT NOW
PRESEASON · 53-MAN CUTDOWN AUG 30

Preseason is loud. Snapp tells you what actually matters.

Third-string quarterbacks against vanilla defenses generate a mountain of numbers that mean nothing. Snapp reads the reps that do: starter snaps, joint-practice work, depth-chart movement and per-snap grades on the players actually competing for jobs. That is a genuinely useful thing to be able to say in August.

Who's actually winning the QB2 job in camp?
It's closer than the published depth chart makes it look. The veteran still takes most of the first-team reps, but the younger passer has the better per-snap grade in joint practices, mostly on quicker decisions under pressure. Watch the third preseason game: whoever runs the twos against a real defense and moves the ball is the tell.
Do preseason snaps even matter, though?
Some do. Starter snaps and joint-practice reps against another team are real signal; garbage-time reps against third-stringers are mostly noise. Snapp separates the two so you know which camp story to actually believe.
